“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.”

Matthew 9:36-38

You Can Advance the Gospel by Praying for These Three Things 

Can you make a difference in the lives of others? Yes! You can help spread the Gospel to your family, neighborhood, city, state, and the world from right where you are. How?

According to James 5:7-8, God is waiting for “the precious fruit of the earth” (people!). The good news is that you can do something about what He is waiting for — souls! The Word of God instructs that the harvest of souls will come in when we ask for three things:

1. Ask God to send laborers.

Ask the Lord of the harvest to send “laborers into His harvest.” It takes people to get the Gospel out! Pray for well-equipped laborers to be sent into the world. 

“But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.  Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:36-38 KJV).

“Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke…“What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!” (Matthew 9:35-38 MSG).

2. Ask for the heathen for your inheritance.

Psalm two instructs us to ask for the heathen (the lost) for our inheritance.

“Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.” (Psalm 2:8 KJV).

“Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance and the ends of the earth as your own possession.” (Psalm 2:8 God’s Word Translation).

3. Ask God for the rain of His Presence to fall.

Daily, ask for His presence (the “rain”) to fall on your city, state, nation, and the world.

“Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field” (Zachariah 10:1 KJV).

“Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” (Hosea 6:3 KJV).

You Can Advance the Gospel by Praying for Three Things!

Like a farmer, God planted His best seed — His son! God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to the earth “that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Now, He is waiting for the precious fruit of the earth (souls!).

“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand” (James 5:7-8 NKJV).

You can make a difference in the lives of others and impact their eternal destiny when you ask for three things each day:

  1. Ask God to send laborers.

  2. Ask for the heathen for your inheritance.

  3. Ask God for the rain of His Presence to fall.

Take time to ask the Lord for these three things daily, and watch what God will do as a result of your faith-filled, Bible-based requests!
