Yes, Jesus Loves Me!
While singing the well-known children’s song, Jesus Loves Me, those lyrics may sound so familiar that they almost feel cliché…until you know what the Bible says about the everlasting love of God—for you.
God Loves You So Much That He Sent Jesus
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16–17 NKJV). Wow! God sent His Son, Jesus, that the world through Him might be saved!
Each of us has a choice to make. Will we receive Jesus as Lord—or not? According to Romans 10:9, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” If you’ve never asked Jesus to be the Lord of your life, today is the day of salvation! Pray this from your heart:
Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I ask You to forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with the precious blood of Jesus. I believe Jesus is the Son of God. I believe He died on the Cross and paid the price for my sins. I believe He rose from the dead. I confess Jesus is the Lord of my life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
What Are We Saved From?
God saved us from an eternity in hell where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:42), unquenchable fire (Mark 9:43), torment (Luke 16:23), eternal separation from God, everlasting destruction (2 Thessalonians 1:8–9), and more.
The Blessings of Being Saved
Being saved is referred to as being “born again” (John 3:3). When you call on the Lord Jesus, repent of your sins, believe Jesus died for you and God raised Him from the dead—you are saved! What are some of the blessings of salvation?
You are now a child of God.
“As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12).
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God…” (Romans 8:16).
You are redeemed through His blood.
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13–14).
You are a new creation.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
You are accepted in the Beloved.
“To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:6).
When you die, you will spend eternity with the Lord in Heaven.
“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2–3).
How Did God Demonstrate His Love for You?
God demonstrated His own love for us, in that “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Clearly, none of us can earn or ever deserve God’s love. He didn’t demonstrate it based on our good works (Ephesians 2:8–9), religious practices, or anything else. His love was expressed through His actions—in sending Jesus—before we were even born.
Yes, Jesus Loves Me!
Jesus endured the Cross and died for you. Imagine the agony He was in, yet He endured it—for you. Hebrews 12:2 makes the love of Jesus clear when it declares, “Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame…” The joy set before Jesus while He was on the Cross—was you!
Now that you know more about His love for you, it seems appropriate to add more detail to the final line of the song, Jesus Loves Me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
Yes, Jesus loves me.
What He did on the Cross tells me so!
