 Lesson 5:

FOUR PRACTICAL TIPS FOR USING

HEALING SCRIPTURES

1. HIGHLY ESTEEM GOD’S WORD

1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NKJV)

“…when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.”

·      See God’s Word for exactly what it is — God’s Words to you!

·      How? Put God’s Word above everything else.

2. FEED ON GOD’S WORD

Matthew 4:4 (NKJV)

“But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

  • Just as natural food feeds and strengthens your physical body, the Word of God feeds and strengthens your inner man — your spirit.

  • FF Bosworth said, “Some people wonder why they can’t have faith for healing. They feed their body three hot meals a day, and their spirit one cold snack a week.”

  • Feeding on God’s Word builds your faith for healing.

  • Feeding on healing Scriptures builds your faith so that your hand of faith can reach out and take the healing that belongs to you.

3. MEDITATE ON GOD’S WORD

Joshua 1:8 (KJV 1900)

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

  • Meditate — to mutter, to ponder, to speak.

  • Read and hear God’s Word over and over.

  • Think about healing Scriptures over and over.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MEDITATE ON THE WORD?

  •  Meditating is like a cow “chewing its cud.”

  • Cows have four separate compartments to their stomach.

  • They keep digesting and re-digesting that same grass to get all the nutrients out of it. That’s a picture of what we want to do with the Word of God. Keep thinking about it, saying it, and rehearsing it.

Proverbs 4:20–22 (KJV)

“My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”

  • God’s Word is “health (medicine) to all your flesh.”

  • Attend to His Word.

  • Keep the word in your ears.

  • Don’t let it depart from your eyes!

  • Keep putting God’s Word into your heart.

  • Why? Because Proverbs 4:22 says, “..For they are life unto those that find them, and health (medicine) to all their flesh.”

  • This is how to take God’s medicine!

4. FOLLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT’S LEADING

  • When you read or listen to healing Scriptures, if one stands out to you, pay attention to that.

  • Very often, that’s how the Holy Spirit leads. You’ll notice a gentle leading or prompting to focus on a particular Scripture.

Romans 8:16 (NKJV)

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit…”

  • It’s like the Holy Spirit Himself saying, “Focus right here.”

WHY IS IT ENCOURAGING WHEN YOU ARE LED TO A PARTICULAR HEALING SCRIPTURE?

  • You realize that God is drawing your attention to it.

  • You realize, God wants me to receive my healing!

  • The Holy Spirit is helping you (John 14:26).

  • He is leading you in line with the Word of God.

  • He is witnessing to your spirit that healing is the will of God for your life.

  • He is revealing that healing belongs to you.
