How To Make the Most of Every Opportunity During Covid

During this historic global situation, these words rise up continually in my heart: “…making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16 NIV). The King James Version says, “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

If we look at this phrase in context, it gives us clear direction. “See then that ye walk circumspectly (diligently, accurately), not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time (making wise and sacred use of every opportunity for doing good) because the days are evil.”

How do we make the most of every opportunity while many are barricaded at home, and items as essential as toilet paper and hand soap are scarce in the marketplace? How do we make wise and sacred use of every opportunity for doing good while the times require us to be so vigilant about our daily choices?

Feast on God’s Word.

  • “One thing is needful” (Luke 10:42).

  • “Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His Word” (Luke 10:39).

Pray without ceasing.

  • “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint” (Luke 18:1).

  • “I exhort that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority” (1 Timothy 2:1).

Take authority.

  • “I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” Luke (10:19).

  • “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” (Psalm 91:10).

Do the work of an evangelist.

  • You are the salt of the earth, and there’s a sea of people who surround your life and desperately need what you have. Salt the sea!

  • From right where you are, reach out to others and share Jesus with them. Make the most of today’s moments by contacting someone you know who needs Jesus.

Time is precious. Let’s make the most of it.
